Brewster Girl Scout Troop 1026 In the final year as Junior Scouts, Troop 1026 completed their year long project of a Toiletry Drive for Putnam Community Action Program. Putnam Community Action Program is an anti-poverty program dedicated to serving the residents of Putnam County who are struggling to support themselves and/or their families. Many of us know CAP as providing Thanksgiving Baskets, School Supplies or Christmas gifts. Toiletries are a much needed item for the clients of CAP. Many times, families have to do without these items, because they aren't covered by programs. The girls discussed the importance of these products and decided to help the clients of Putnam CAP. The girls Jennifer, Emily, Emily, Amalia, Nina and Becky worked to collect a variety of Toiletries. They were able to collect toothpaste, tooth brushes, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, shaving cream, soap and razors. The girls worked with local stores, families, friends and neighbors to assemble over $2500 worth of items. The girls presented the items to Putnam CAP Director Rosemarie Bahr. Mrs. Bahr was able to give the girls a tour of CAP, and discuss future opportunities to work with the Troop. The girls are very proud of coordinating the community donations. As one girl said, “I feel like I’ve made a difference to my neighbors.” Congratulations to the troop! |
